A DIAMOND BEACHBODY COACH DINNER INVITATION

Last weekend, I got to spend a wonderful evening with some amazing ladies who are my core fitness support system. Even a fitness coach needs a group! This was a wonderful evening spent with wonderful people. There is always one person that stands out when we get together as a group. She inspires me as a woman and a fitness coach. That person is Jenelle Summers.

Jenelle (top row, second from the right) is my business mentor and my Beachboady coach. She’s also the sister of fitness celebrity Chalene Johnson (Chalene Extreme, Turbo Jam, TurboFire). If you’ve done any of her videos, you’re bound to have seen her. She kicks butt in those classes. Once a year, as a special treat, Jenelle invites her coaches who are ranked Diamond and above, to celebrate what we have achieved in our business’, with a fabulous evening out on the town. This year was just that…FABULOUS!

Before I launch into how wonderful Beachbody is and the fact that I’m a WAHM (Work at Home Mom), let me first say that it’s changed my life personally. I’ve used the products, I’ve gotten the results from hard work, and I’m committed to women getting fit and healthy.

I love the fact that I can stay home with my kids, while promoting a healthy lifestyle and running a business supporting that mission. Many people say this on their blogs, in fact, how am I different than any other coach? Questions that might run through your mind when you stumble across my blog are, “Aren’t you out to just sell me a “shake-in-a-bag” or get me signed up as a coach?” Yes. I wouldn’t be being honest if I didn’t say I’d hope you’d choose me to be your coach and try Shakeology (“shake-in-a-bag.”) But… this isn’t the reason I love my job.

I love my job as a fitness coach because it changes people’s lives! I love helping people get fit and healthy!

Yogurt Stop! Diamond Coaches Dinner

Our evening started with a limo bus ride to Yogurt Vi, a very delicious yogurt bar. Girls gotta eat! We then ran down to Lady Foot Locker (not literally, it was a non-workout get together) for some shoe shopping. We’re fitness people; we get excited over a great pair of shoes! After our shopping spree, we arrived at Dick’s Sporting Goods where we were gifted with exercise apparel!

Japanese Steak House Diamond Coaches DinnerLast stop: Dinner. We indulged at Nagoya Japanese Steak House. YUM!!! It was a great night of food and fun, but more than anything, it was a great night with friends; friends that encourage and support me to be a better, happier, healthier person. I dream of the day I can take my Diamond Team to dinner! Not for the money, but for the camaraderie and support of other women just like me. We’re changing lives, one workout at a time!

Insanity, Turbofire, Slim in 6, Brazil Butt Lift – Before and After Results!

I’m constantly amazed at how fabulous all of my challenge group participants are. They never cease to go above and beyond. Not only did they push themselves by ‘Pressing Play’ everyday, but they supported the other team members in their groups and some of them even became coaches! I’m a one proud Beachbody Coach right now!

Doing this challenge has giving me the willpower to succeed. Knowing that the other group members are working hard to obtain their goals pushes me to go as hard as they do. I have gained so much knowledge about nutrition and fitness and it is something that I find myself sharing with others everyday. I will continue to work hard to reach my goal even after the challenge is over.

I have always had this goal in the back of my head (but its pretty much always stayed there). What body type I want to be, how I want to look. This has been my first time saying I want something and sticking to it. Not only have I lost weight & inches, I gained so much wonderful muscle tone and strength.

Anyone can say they are going to go home and press play on their TV and get there workout done, but can’t you always find something else to distract you from accomplishing that goal, the group made me want to be accountable, made me want to do that work and post it. I did not want to let them down as much as I did not want to let myself down.

In April 2011 I had my 3rd baby by c-section. Shortly after childbirth and weighing the most I have ever in my life at 172 lbs in a size XL, I was able to loose all my baby weight on my own between my post-partum checkup on June 1,2011 and Thanksgiving. I did this the only way I knew how, consistant cardiovascular exercise and moderate dieting. On Thanksgiving Day 2011 I finally got in my size 8 jean and weighed around 145 lbs.

I wanted more…not necessarily a huge weight loss number, but I wanted to flatten my beat up abdominal muscles. My challenge started January 2012. At first I had no idea of which workout video to claim as my own because I had never done a workout video in my life! Exercise to me was all cardio, and there was nothing else, period. It took me a few weeks, a little trial and error, before I finally settled with INSANITY. Although it was difficult, it was easy to follow, and I found myself sweating like never before. I have finished my 60 days of INSANITY and now have good defination in my abdominal muscles. I have also gained noticeable back muscle defination.

My jean size shrank from a size 8 to a size 4 and I can honestly say now I buy smalls instead of extra large:)

Beachbody, and my personal coach, Christina Massey Volk, have taught me there is more to exercise than cardio! Despite the fact I still consider myself primarily a runner, I will continue to use beachbody videos to crosstrain and to hopefully one day turn my new “four pack” post c-section abs to a full “6 pack” post c-section abs! I will also continue to drink Shakeology daily, because I honestly believe it has been a contributing factor to my success…not to mention it tastes good and is super good for you! Why would I give that up?

I really wanted to do Insanity, but didn’t feel I was fit enough to dive right into it, so I did Slim in 6, worked out on my elliptical trainer, and about once a week did an Insanity workout. The next month I plunged into Insanity and I haven’t looked back! I lost 10 pounds, 4 inches off my waist, 3 inches off my chest and 3 inches off my hips. I also went from wearing a tight size 10 to a loose size 6! I’ve got more energy and I feel and look stronger. As the mother of 3 small children, it hasn’t always been easy finding time for my workouts and eating right, but the payoff has been so worth it! I saw some friends tonight that I had not seen in several months and they gave me so many compliments on my new look. One of them is even interested in trying Shakeology! This is only the start of my fitness journey and I couldn’t be happier!

 

I’m SO proud of my challenge graduates you see here as well as the others that aren’t highlighted. I couldn’t have asked for a more willing group of participants. They stuck with it and are now reaping the benefits and seeing fabulous results. While they aren’t finished (none of us are!) they now know what needs to happen to maintain their healthy lifestyles. Come one, come all! My challenge groups are completely online (Facebook rocks!) I have a bunch of different challenge groups going on right now, but nothing focused specifically on getting Bikini Bottom Ready!

Insanity Fit Test – My Results

Another day, another blog, another round of Insanity! That’s right. I’m doing it again. One of the things I love most about the Insanity program is the fit test. It allows you to track your progress on more than just a body measurement scale. You can actually see how much more fit you become over the length of doing the program. While I’ve done this before, I know there is always room to improve. So here I go.

Those of you who haven’t taken the test can see what I’m talking about by downloading a free Insanity Fit Test Journal. I’ve included a link, so you can view and download this journal to help you with these exercises and track your results.

I don’t know about you, but I started the New Year off with a bang. Most people tend to get excited about taking on a new goal: weight loss, spending more time with family, reducing debt; it’s part of the spirit of a new season.

This January, I decided to start fitness challenge groups! What better way to get Beachbody workouts combined with group momentum and excitement to get healthy, than a good old-fashioned challenge?

Christina’s Beachbody Challenge Details

Who: Anyone who wanted to sign up!

What: A challenge to take back your life in 30 days! Exercise & Nutrition!

Where: Online accountability through Beachbody site and Facebook, checking-in and communicating daily!

Why: There are lots of people on a Mission – being a coach allows me to encourage those missions on a deeper level. I’m so encouraged by each of these participants, it’s hard to choose just 3. I had to have you meet them! Here are some of their stories.

Hi! I’m Cheryl a 37 year old, stay at home mother to 3 kids (a 4-year-old and 6-year-old twins.) No C-sections for me! “I know Christina through a local mom’s group and our daughters are in Kindergarten together.”

Her Goal – Lose a few pounds and stay motivated to exercise consistently.

Biggest Struggle: “Exercising! My reason? It’s hard to find the time to do it.” I hear her on this! Being a mom can be demanding and fitting a workout into your schedule tends to take a back seat.

Favorite Beachbody Workout: I love Insanity! I like the quick pace and the variety of the workouts by Shaun T.

Mom Wisdom: “Schedule your workout! I do mine first thing in the morning, because I know as the day goes on, I probably will find some excuse not to do it.”

Jocelyn C. Beachbody Challenge

A 25 year old work-a-holic, who has 2 high stress jobs, works anywhere between 50-70 hours per week. Jocelyn has every excuse to be tired!  I met Jocelyn about 2 years ago when my sister Shell and Jocelyn graduated from the Oakland Police academy together.

Biggest Struggle: She refers to herself as being a picky eater who loves fruits and veggies, loves to exercise and goes to the gym. You might question WHY she’s in one of my challenge groups. While she eats well and exercises, her mid-section is admittedly her toughest area to keep in shape. Jocelyn tells me, “Oh boy, some days it just feels like a losing battle.”

Favorite Tools: “I love Chocolate Shakeology!! It has increased my energy levels 100%. I use to drink (2) cups of coffee before I left the house, 1 on my way into work, and have a few cups after getting there. By lunch, I’d switch to diet soda and would have 2 a day!” As her coach, I’m proud to say as of January 13 (her start date on Shakeology) she has stopped drinking pop and coffee. Go Jocelyn!

Words of Wisdom: Jocelyn says she is pushed by the group challenge to have accountability with others.  “This year is about being accountable to myself… It has never mattered to me. It’s always been how I feel inside and out when I look in the mirror.”

Her Goal – Lose weight and gain some extra energy to keep up with her kids.

Biggest Struggle: Portion control and finding the time to exercise everyday!

A Super Saturday with Shaun T!

WOW!  What more can I say about the amazing experience I had on Feb 12, 2011.  Myself and about 300 people (shout out to Kimberly, Jen, Kristy, Mary, Amanda, and Kim) were fortunate enough to spend a saturday morning in Columbus OH where we were inspired, educated, motivated and wow’d by Tommy Mygrant, Shaun T and Team Beachbody.

The fantastic trip started on Friday as Jen, Kristy, Kimberly and I jumped in the Jeep and headed south.  4 hours of driving and some Jimmy Johns for dinner later we had arrived at the hotel.  Some girl talk and a cocktail later it was time to call it a night cuz we had a date to get our butts kicked by Mr. T in the morning. The alarm clocks sounded and we jumped out of bed and got ready.  Yes, we got ready to go workout, lol.  Hair did, makeup done, cute outfits on and breakfast consumed we were ready for the epic event.

The event began at 9am with a coaching prospect talk followed by some yummy Shakeology tasting.  This was my first encounter with Greenberry.  Gotta declare that I’m sticking with Chocolate.  During the Shakeology break I had the extreme pleasure of meeting Barbie Decker.  She is someone who I have found to be very inspiring both for her physical transformation and also for her success as a coach, and there she was all the way from Texas.  Heck yeah I’m making a point to introduce myself to her and tell her I think she’s awesome.  For the record she was very nice and humble, exactly what a role model should be.

Back to the event…it also featured about 7 success stories.  People who had found financial and physical improvements in their life because of Beachbody products and coaching.  These stories are what move you.  The extreme weight loss, improved health, fulfilling their dreams, living again.  LOVED it!  After some fun, it was time for a bit of business.  It’s nice to know that a company is committed to providing you with training that will make you better.  Tommy Mygrant hosted a wonderfully funny session.  When talking about what Shakeology can do for you, I think his line “ripped and regular” will always stick, lol.  Tommy asked the best question though.  Tommy asked “is Shaun here yet?!?!”  SAY WHAT, WHERE?  Standing in the doorway, that’s where. And the crowd went wild standing up, taking pics, hoot’n and holler’n.

Shaun T (Thompson for those who don’t know) ROCKED.  He was extremely kind, funny, informative, real and motivating.  He started with Q & A and this is what he shared

  • He loves peanut M&M’s
  • First question asked “Can we see your abs?”. His response… shirt lifted.
  • His personal workouts are very much what you get with Insanity.  He doesn’t even lift weights for his legs.  Perfect form is key.
  • “Abs are made in the kitchen”. He is not on a diet plan its a lifestyle plan.
  • Don’t be afraid to tweak a menu, ever.
  • Be sure to carry snacks with you.
  • His breakfast: 8 egg whites, 1/2 cantaloupe, 2 pcs 7 grain toast, avocado
  • Beachbody questioned him being the best suited for Insanity since he was the Hip Hop Abs guy.  He was told to prove it and I think we all know he did.
  • He is passionate about kids fitness, but believes it’s the parents responsibility.

After Q & A, was workout time!!! An actual live Insanity workout with the creator.  Its hard enough when I do it in my living room now I have to do it with him in the room and 300 others too. I was just hoping I didn’t puke (I didn’t, close but didn’t).  The workout was made up on the fly.  He said he likes doing it that way cuz its harder that way.  Told you he was a nice guy, thanks for caring Shaun, lol.  Needless to say he kicked our butts.  It was hard, but also the best.  I was bent over, yelling, clapping my hands, telling myself this is a very rare opportunity so suck it up and DIG DEEPER!  After about 45 minutes of intervals, moving push ups, planks, squats, high knees and tuck jumps we were done.  I had survived.  Whats the reward for surviving…a pic with Shaun T.  It was a long line but worth the wait.  The entire event was worth it.

Only things I can say I wish had been different. I wish I had taken my copy of Insanity to get autographed or came up with something creative for him to sign. And I was hoping for apparel and gear to be for sale.  I would have loved to buy a shirt in honor of the great day spent with a great trainer, great team and especially my great friends who did it all with me.
